ON ENVIRONMENT + EXPERIENCE
The rooms that shape us are not always the ones we inherit or build behind closed doors. More often, they are assembled in public, around restaurant tables, in hotel lounges, across repeated evenings and evolving conversations.
My work considers how those rooms come together, how they deepen, and what they reveal about access, belonging, and the people within them. I write about the social life of spaces: the environments that hold us, the gatherings that define them, and the quiet dynamics that determine who becomes part of the room.
PRESENT COMPANY
My work doesn’t begin on the page. It begins with Present Company, curated gatherings in hotel dining rooms, restaurants, galleries, theatres, and other third spaces where people love to visit, stay, and return.
Each evening is composed with intention, bringing together chefs, authors, editors, and artists whose work shapes culture. What matters is what happens between us. Conversation builds, guests return, and familiarity deepens into something lasting. Present Company is not just a dinner; it’s a room shaped over time by the people in it and what continues beyond the table.
INCLUDED
Included is an ongoing body of work about how rooms take shape across hotel bars, restaurant tables, and other spaces people return to often enough to build meaningful relationships with the establishments and eachother. These essays follow how those rooms are formed: who’s present, who’s brought in, what continues from one night to the next, and how certain spaces hold meaning.
